Before my Adam is awaken to find me
I must fall back in love with the Almighty
For I allowed thirst to persuade me to drift
Causing my mind, body & soul to steadily rift
My mind held hostage in a mental tug of war
My flesh conveying it’s appetite to wander afar
Whereas my soul cried stop the entanglements
Screaming as ties formed became fatal ailments
Internal conflict disguised by religion’s mask
Pretending all was picture perfect and well
While all the time damning my soul to hell
Entering the edifice of the holy place often
Even as the resolve of my salvation soften
Wondering will they discern my intentions
Or are they too spent with their pretensions
Learned the postures of the holy scribes
Just riding the waves of the routine tides
Like a clown adorns his face for the show
Weekly my church facade was bestowed
Excellent at the practice of religious rhetoric
While denying the dimensions of my heretics
But somewhere at the bottom of this well
My soul commence to breakdown and fail
Awakening the divine within from the spell
And the utter darkness begin to be dispelled
Coming to my senses just in the nick of time
Before all was lost without reason or rhyme
Grace sufficient to keep me through it all
Sustaining me till I'd again hear His call
I must fall back in love with the Almighty
For I allowed thirst to persuade me to drift
Causing my mind, body & soul to steadily rift
My mind held hostage in a mental tug of war
My flesh conveying it’s appetite to wander afar
Whereas my soul cried stop the entanglements
