Feels more like the end game to me Hodee.
They've already mined bout as much loot as they can all the way down to grade school level and in some cases pre-school. There ain't gonna be any monies for endowments cause everyone is gonna be paying off the loans it took for their supposed 'education'.
The concept of any kind of public school system today is a joke. It's long since been privatized some forty fl'n years ago. Hell I remember in the 80's when school departments were forced to rent space to private venders peddling soda machines (that was believe it or not a goodly part of the Coke vs. Pepsi wars) just to make up lack of funds for the arts and/or athletic programs. Now they just drop completely or severely cut the arts and humanities in favor of STEM as if that was all there is to life, Stem.
The politics of the school system today is to graduate GOOD CORPORATE CITIZENS. Nothing else. And they eating their own to accomplish it. And it's a well established pattern through out history as a precursor to the fall of empire, the hallowing itself from the inside out at all levels as the sources for extraction of wealth from the outside of country become scarcer.
They eating their own now.
Hannity wrote a book.
" The Enemy Within " he wrote it to call the Democrats The Enemy. Code talk.. Dog whistle rhetoric.
( only a dog can hear the noise and reacts to that racist blow )
All of the current state of affairs were planned decades ago. They finally found a fool who don't give a dam to pull it off. Being stupid was needed.. The puppet thinks he pulling strings.. When in reality.. Someone elses hand up his back
Only a true narcissistic mind could be manipulated in such a manner

Hannity? Hannity!!!!!?
Truthfully Man I'm trying to put Hannity and a discussion about education together.
Though the US is certainly not alone, the US empire landscape is conspicuously littered with Hannity's throughout it's sordid history both Republican and Democrat (or whatever name and rhetoric they happen to attach themselves to at any given point in time) and then again usually both at the same time.. Need we recount their names here? Or need we go into the mythical American exceptionalism story?
As Tony Morrison said "education has ALWAYS been political" no matter how far back one wants to explore and there never was a golden age of critical free thought within the schools of academia from the elementary to the highest levels never......... and it's inevitable that the contradictions and flaws inherent within the system as designed will glaringly show in one way or another whatever that impetus happens to be.

Possible led me there within what you shared.
As much as I study history, present day occurrences dating back at least the last twenty years interest me the most.
Hannity is current influence. Be it Politics which it all is, Education, the Economy and how this administration parrots what ever the Fox News narratives of the day is.

You wrote... " the fall of empire, the hallowing itself from the inside out "
could have been this statement. that took me there. This is clearly all Hannity and his Enemy within parroting.

I stopped short of discussing the Soviet influence and Communist Influence America had early 1900's.
( The support given Hitler in WWII by the Enemies within etc.. ) The Blurring of Education by .. Book Burning like Hitler did.

"Lewd" books (by Anthony Comstock and the NYSSV)[edit]
Anthony Comstock founded the New York Society for the Suppression of Vice (NYSSV) in 1873 and over the years burned 15 tons of books, 284,000 pounds of plate, and almost 4 million pictures. The NYSSV was financed by wealthy and influential New York philanthropists. Lobbying the United States Congress also led to the enactment of the Comstock laws.

The book burning happened just before the second world war.. in the 1930's well into the 50's

Libraries well into 2000 were clearing out archives of any educational, and other literature dating back before 1970 ..
Tossing all the books into massive dumpsters

I have publications from that period, that show the education system was shored up
much better than it is today, all disciplines were cataloged in a rare publication that stands about five inches or more thick in its publication. The list of all of worldly and America;s scholarly minds they gathered information, sciences, details, education, examples etc.. into one encyclopedia edition of education. This book too was dumped

A thread ( MINE I START ) to me doesn't have to stand ( stay ) totally on the subject matter title.
I don't believe it it can if your going to discuss anything in detail. No trip.. you focused it back.. Thanks.

By mentioning Morrison, and by mentioning the mythical American Exceptionalism.. we should discuss that as well.
That mystical exceptionalism is underneath a lot of these ills

Banning books, or Burning books impact education and education doesn't have to be in a building they call school

Tony Morrison stated: Some schools and politicians seeking to ban books like “Beloved.” ...
In her acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize in Literature, Toni Morrison said: “We die. That may be the meaning of life.
But we do language. That may be the measure of our lives.”

This reckoning of Colleges, is that with today's technology, they no longer have to be within four walls, that charge so much and educate so few by exclusion.

If a hannity ever said such a statement resembling the wording they misused or misappropriated it.
I forget exactly where I paraphrased it from or heard it but likely from someone like a Chris Hedges or a Richard Wolff who in turn probably riffed it from the Marx philosophic theories on the socio-economic dynamics of who gets what between the capital vs the producers, or it could have been from one of many of the scholars that have studied and written about the rise and fall of empires. But I'll assure you it wasn't lifted from a hannity.

A thread ( MINE I START ) to me doesn't have to stand ( stay ) totally on the subject matter title.

The way my brain works I can connect almost anything to anything else, I see everything as connected and rather as a system then as a stand alone subject, kinda like a fractal is visualized. I know most people can find that proclivity disconcerting if not too often even going off topic altogether but it's how my brain works, Hannity was just a wrench thrown into my inner machinery that brought the works to a stop for a moment is all.
So this
Hannity? Hannity!!!!!?
Truthfully Man I'm trying to put Hannity and a discussion about education together.
was probably more about my chagrin of being at a loss than a criticism on your post.

Possible led me there within what you shared.

Sorry Hodee, 20 years is history like the last hour or minute is history. Follow me here, while the history of a past hour likely has and will form what happens in the next hour or perhaps even tomorrow and beyond for me it wholly is history from a singular perspective. The the last twenty years in-re the US and the rest of the world is really barely an hour in the flow of history. But then again the US have always been a self obsessed bunch haven't we, so as long our next twenty years (hour) is okay for us than it's all copacetic, isn't that the way it has gone?

The support given Hitler in WWII by the Enemies within etc.. ) The Blurring of Education by .. Book Burning like Hitler did.
The enemies within you speak about depends on whom you consider the enemies. During the 30's coinciding with the rise of Hitler there were many supporters of the Nazi among the elite, the industry titans and the general population here in the US. In fact there were major money players that profited from doing business with Germany up to the time one of the Axis countries bombed Pearl Harbor and FRD ordered the businesses to stop by executive order. So the enemies within were not the socialists, or oommies it was the large contingent of our very own native Nazis marching from LA to Madison Square Garden down the streets of D.C. and the capitalists raking in the dough.
Were those the enemies you spoke about? They're still about 30% to 40% (give or take) of the population today led by a fascist named Agent Orange. (wish I'd thought of that moniker) Agent Orange. lol

Well yeh, book burning. Who could expect anything less from a country as Puritanical as this one has always been? The Christian Taliban is still at it today, yes imagine right here in River City! (check out old musicals)
And if one needs to wonder about the blurring of education check out the Toni Morrison vid again on how the blurring of truth goes back a long long long ways. Don't need to burn no books, just omit the truth enough times and it disappears.

More later
gotta run
