My prayers for his daughter, Makeda Niambi Kenyatta.

Only 5 years ago, she lost her mother, Sister QueenTswana, around this same time of the year and now her father.

How hard this must be on her. She's only 19 years old now, on the cusp of womanhood and without mother & father.

May God and her Village continue to protect and guide her.

This is a copy of the sympathy card to Rick, Elizabeth and Nicole at the facility where Keita stayed before the staff there sent him to the hospice nearby in order to help ease and relieve him of his pain and suffering and to keep him comfortable and rested around an experienced staff of caring, loving people until his death. (The print is faint, Eye apologize for that - yet here are the words Eye was able to decipher from the copy that Rick sent to me).

Dear Rick, Elizabeth and Nicole ---with Deepest Sympathy:

Dear Fine....

This is the first time I have been in here since first learning of your loss on Facebook.

We go back a ways on Black Singles, and from all that you have said about Keita, and all that everyone here has said about him, speaks mountains of testimony on his behalf and in his memory.

It didn't strike me at first the depth of your love on Facebook. Here I can see it more clearly. My dear Fine, and old friend, I know a heavy heart is a terrible load to have to carry. But I think I've known you long enough, maybe close to 10 years from BSC, that you carry the essence and spirit of Keita because it is a permanent part of you. And you have friends here who loved Keita, and who love you now.

With much love to you, Jon

On February 6, 2015, Keita Otiba Kenyatta (eg. born 08/13/1956) passed away. He was 57 years old. Eye knew and loved him for only a short period of time; yet in that time Eye knew and understood him totally. Around the middle of December he told me that he didn't think he would make it to Xmas, yet he did. Near the end he was treated at a hospice facility. He suffered a great deal of pain mentally as well as physically, yet in the end --he accepted his own death.

Eye remember how eye tried to talk him out of creating that poem "To You, With Love" Eye am a private person, you see, but in the end eye could not resist letting everyone know eye was the object of his affection.

This is a picture of him painting my toe nails

Keita wanted to be remembered for just what he was ---a Historian, a Poet, a Writer, a Public Speaker, a Publisher and an Activist. He was a man who held deep and astounding thoughts to the very end. He was a man who sought the truth, though angered by those truths accepted the reality of those truths. Eye will remember him always.

He requested to be cremated and his wishes will be honored.

OneLove,

I had no idea!

I was wondering. My heart is on the floor!
It is so wonderful to know you were with him. You have some beautiful feet. Such a lovely warm picture. Black love, so beatiful.

Even though I disagreed with some of his findings, I still adored him. I remember some of his last words to me was so kind, but I had no idea, it would be his last words!

I miss him. May he be resting in peace.

Thank you sister, for sharing.

WOW!
