In a statement, Starbucks public affairs director Audrey Lincoff said Starbucks is aware that Signature uses prisoner labor and believes its contract with Signature is "entirely consistent with our mission statement," which says the company will respect others, contribute to the community, and embrace diversity .Nintendo did not respond to requests for comment

    By Lia Eustachewich

A Rutgers University professor — who is white — railed against white children as “little Caucasian a—holes” in a racist Facebook rant that called them out for being privileged.

James Livingston blew his lid Thursday after grabbing a burger to go from restaurant Harlem Shake on West 124th Street, according to the Daily Caller.

Issa Rae Said Every N-gga Is A Star At The CFDA Awards And These Looks Prove She’s Right

    June 5, 2018 | By Brande Victorian

It’s not everyday one can publicly announce “Every n-gga is a star” — on their satin belt no less — but at CFDA anything goes, and when you’re the host, you can do what you wanna do.

That’s exactly what Issa Rae did last night when she hosted the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards in Brooklyn; the sentiment she expressed on her belt, which perfectly complemented her custom Pyer Moss gown we must add, was taken from the title of Jamaican singer Boris Gardiner’s song which played during the Pyer Moss fall/winter 2018 fashion show...

Why More White Americans Are Opposing Government Welfare Programs

    KAT CHOW

A new study shows that since 2008, more white people in the United States oppose welfare programs, in part because of increasing "racial resentment."

Why More White Americans Are Opposing Government Welfare Programs

A new report says that one reason has to do with white people's perceptions that they're losing financial dominance as people of color are making gains.

Why Anthony Bourdain’s Life Is a Lesson for White Men of Privilege on How to Be an Ally

    Malaika Jabali

    Glamour

...In recognizing his privilege, Bourdain was able to stand up for women, marginalized communities, and even question how his own past choices lent themselves to perpetuating dangerous environments. It would have been effortless for Bourdain to adopt the worldview of men who share his status and influence, Bourdain, instead, explored worlds besieged by that power and challenged its beneficiaries to do better.

What a 1963 RFK-James Baldwin meeting teaches us about race in Trump’s America
“We’ve been living without truth for a long time.” —Michael Eric Dyson

    By Sean Illing

... But this famous encounter, and the divisions that drove it, remains as relevant today as it was in 1963, that’s the argument Michael Eric Dyson, a sociologist at Georgetown University, makes in his new book What Truth Sounds Like. For Dyson, the context has changed, but the issues, demands, and injustices haven’t, especially in the age of Donald Trump.

Let's address the ridiculous 911 calls that people of color endure
    BY JEFFERY ROBINSON, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR

Recently, several black people whom bystanders have reported to the police for engaging in “suspicious activity” — such as taking a nap, moving into their home, and leaving their Airbnb — made waves when they announced that they were forming a collective. A few days later, they were joined by the mother of two Native American teenagers who were detained by police because someone told 911 it seemed the boys didn’t “belong” on a campus tour...
