Was Queen Nefertiti, the wife of Pharaoh Akenaten a Black Woman or was she "Asiatic" or other?

Is there archaeological evidence that she was not Black?

If so, what are the sources establishing proof that she was non-African?

These 2 questions are leading.

Better questions would be: "What does the archeological evidence suggest that she was?"

Either way, here is some information:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nefertiti

Nefertiti's parentage is not known. It has been conjectured that she may have been a sister of Ay, later to be pharaoh, making her daughter Akhasunamun, who later was Aye's queen, his great-niece. Another theory that has gained some support identifies Nefertiti with the Mitanni princess Tadukhipa. The name Nimerithin has been mentioned in older scrolls, as an alternative name, but this has not yet been officially confirmed. However it is most likely that Nefertiti was a daughter or relative of Amenhotep III, or of the high Theban nobility.

Whatever evidence that is available is inconclusive, however, some aspects might suggest that she was not Kemetic, nor African at all.

PEACE

Brother Samurai,

You can consider the questions leading if you may, and perhaps they are, but what do they lead to?

I am of the opinion that they are valid as asked because they do not lead to speculation but require PROOF.

I am NOT asking "what the archaeological evidence suggests". That to me is the problem.

If folks are going to openly condemn Akhenaten for marrying a WHITE WOMAN, as some here have done, I personally would like to see FACTUAL EVIDENCE to support this assertion.

Furthermore, I would appreciate some OPINION or FACT offered from an AFRICAN perspective rather than the wikipedia.

For example, the statement,

"Another theory that has gained some support identifies Nefertiti with the Mittani princess Tadukhipa."

According to who exactly?

At least two sources I have read state that it was Amenophis III, Amenhotep IV's (Akenaten) father, who married TWO Mittanian princesses as Royal wives, in addition to Queen Tiy.

Ancient Egypt It's Culture and History by J.E. Manchip White
Introductory Guide to the Egyptian Collections by the British museum

Another source, "Nefertiti: Unlocking the Mystery Surrounding Egypt's Most Famous and beautiful Queen" is the most comprehensive source I have found thus far.

It states clearly the manner in which Amenophis II, not his son, "opened negotiations for the hand of Tadukepa", as well as his marriage to Gilukhepa, the daughter of Shuttarna, king of Mitanni.

Interestingly, the statement to the effect suggesting that "she was not Kametic, or African at all" can also be stated for the Royal Wife of Amenophis III, Queen Tiy, as there are many who have "theorized" her to be of Asiatic origin. Just as those who has "theorized" that Tiy's parents were "Asiatic".

The assertion that Nefertiti was responsible for actually somehow importing the worship of the Aten, as others have suggested, is laughable.

Again, this was an innovation of Pharaoh Amenophis III, under the influence of his Royal Wife Queen Tiy.

"There is evidence that shows that the cult of the sun-disk already flourished during the reign of TuthmosisIV (e.g. the scarab 65800 exhibited in the Sixth Egyptian Room which bears a text mentioning the Aten) and during the reign of Amenophis III it gained steadily in importance until it was formally adopted by his son."

(Egyptian Collections, p. 51)

Therefore, the evidence suggests that this "worship of the Aten" preceeded the BIRTH of both Amenhotep IV (Akhenaten) and Nefertiti, and dates as early as the reign of Pharaoh Tuthmosis IV.

If nefertiti is credited for her role in this worship, It further suggest that SHE WAS OF THE ROYAL BLOODLINE and attempted to keep the ANCIENT FORM OF WORSHIP PURE, while falling into disfavor by the AMENIST CULT AT THEBES.

as far as "suggestions" or "theories" are concenred, I can myself "theorize" that Nefertiti was indeed of NUBIAN ancestry and descended from the MEMPHITE PRIESTHOOD.

Peace...
