CHICAGO (AP) — President Barack Obama sharply rebuked protesters Tuesday night for racially
charged violence in Missouri, saying there was no excuse for burning buildings, torching cars and
destroying other property after a grand jury declined to indict the white police officer who shot a black
teenager.

As darkness fell in Ferguson, Missouri, where authorities hoped to avoid a second night of chaos in the
streets, Obama said destructive actions are criminal acts and those who responsible should be
prosecuted.

“To those who think that what happened in Ferguson is an excuse for violence, I do not have any
sympathy for that. I have no sympathy at all for destroying your own communities,” he said.

I'm reading the article and am thinking, it is not condoned, the violence as a result
of the verdict, yet he can kill a u.s. citizen abroad, for bad mouthing the country, that
citizen is from. Not only that, but then turn around and kill the man's 16 y/o son,
who lived as american as apple pie?

Obama said he understood that many people were upset by that decision.

“The frustrations that we’ve seen are not about a particular incident. They have
deep roots in many communities of color who have a sense that our laws are not
always being enforced uniformly or fairly,” Obama said.

Is this a subtle acknowledgment of the disenfranchisement of afrikan people
in the way of the u.s. justice system? If so, then my question would be to the
pres: What do you plan to do about it?

“There are productive ways of responding and expressing those frustrations, and there are destructive ways of responding,” he said.

Okay sure. What alternatives are there that can stop law enforcement from an excessive use of power that
too many times result in the execution of black men?

“Burning buildings, torching cars, destroying property, putting people at risk. That’s destructive and there’s no excuse for it.
Those are criminal acts and people should be prosecuted if they engage in criminal acts.”

I don't dig those acts necessarily, but I understand the reaction. Given that the human experience is nothing if not
riddled with contradiction, to hold to that notion with the force of a vice-grip than the pres would have to agree with me
that there was no excuse for the actions of the boston tea party for destroying property, though if it weren't for acts
of that nature against imperial britain, he may not enjoy the 'freedoms' and 'rights' he swore to defend.
