"no man comes to the Father except by me"

(Spanish words for God)

It grieves me to say this, but very few Church goers today understand that when Jesus said "No man comes to the Father but by me," he was saying in a metaphoric way that he and the Father are the same God, i.e., the same person. And as such, this revelation has caused much consternation in the Church of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

That is to say, many faithful Christians read in John 1:1 where it says of Jesus "He was with God," and conclude that this is speaking of a bigger and better God from whom Jesus received instructions. Or that this is talking about another God who was in heaven while Jesus was on earth dying for us on the cross. But that is not so!

See, what they are doing wrong is not understanding how Jesus speaks to us in the Gospels. Many scholars refer to this style of speech as illeism, or speaking in the third person. An example of this is seen in everyday life when a woman stands over her baby's crib and says, "This Good Lady doesn't want you to do that." The "Good Lady" is the woman! What I am saying is, every time Jesus mentions "the Father" or "God," he is speaking of himself in the third person. Or he is speaking of himself by his other name.

So when Jesus says in the first part of the sentence, "He was with God," the God he mentioned is himself. We see this made plain when we are told in the last half of the sentence, "... and he was God." Thus the two illeist phrases, "He was with God" and "He was God," are a type of parallelism, meaning that they both are saying the same thing: that Jesus is our God, the one who existed from the beginning!"

Another way of saying this is: "He was with God because he was God!" Or "He was with God when God created the earth because Jesus is God!"

Thus we see Jesus using this illeist way of speaking of himself as the Father in the phrase I quoted in my opening statement. John 14 says it this way:

"Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust me. There are many rooms in my Father's house, and I am going there to prepare a place for you. If this were not so, I would tell you plainly. When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. And you know where I am going and how to get there."

"No, we don't know Lord," Thomas said. "We haven't any idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?"

"Jesus told him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me."

But to make sure the disciples understood that he was speaking of himself in the third person when he mentioned "the Father," he said to them, "If you had known who I am, then you would have known who my Father is. From now on you know him and have seen him!" Translated: "From now on you know him and have seen him because he is me!"

But Philip still did not fully understand what Jesus meant so he said to Jesus: "Lord, show us the Father and we will be satisfied." Jesus replied, "Philip, don't you even yet know who I am, even after all the time I have been with you? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father! So why are you asking to see him?

Enough Said!

See, if Jesus is not God, then his work on earth on our behalf is all for nothing. Mark 2:7 makes this plain when it makes this statement: "... "Who but God can forgive sins!"

But for further proof that Jesus is God I give you the following Scriptures:
.
2 Peter 1:1 says it this way: "This letter is from Simon Peter, a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to you who share the same precious faith we have. This faith was given to you because of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior. (Jesus Christ, nuestro Dios y Salvador)"

Paul echoes this in Romans 9:5 when he says: "Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are their ancestors, and Christ himself was an Israelite as far as his human nature is concerned. And he is God (y e'l es Dios), the one who rules over everything and is worthy of eternal praise! Amen."

And Jesus' chief disciple, Peter, says that Jesus is God, too! As he said of Jesus in 2 Peter 1:1: "Simeon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained a faith of equal standing with ours by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ (nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesus Christ). …"

Let's say it this way: To try to make Jesus a different person from God, or to think that Jesus is not enough for us is to do the same thing the Jews did did after crossing the Red Sea. Exodus 32 records:

"And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, 'Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.'

"And Aaron said unto them, 'Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.'

"And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, 'These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.'

"And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, 'To morrow is a feast to the Lord.'" Or a feast to our made up God.

See, if we as Christians knew anything at all about the essence of God, we would know that God in his spirit essence is said to be present everywhere. That is to say, he is in all places at the same time, or omnipresent. Said otherwise, there is no outside of God; his presence is continuous and goes on to infinity and beyond. But in his stay on earth Jesus claimed this attribute for himself.

Ephesians 4:10 says it this way. "And the same one who descended is the one who ascended higher than all the heavens, so that he might fill the entire universe with himself." The same thing is recorded in Ephesians 1:23. "And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself."

This means that if Jesus in his spirit essence is everywhere present and fills everything there is and beyond with himself, there is no room for the other two separate beings you call God to exist. If they did exist, of necessity they would have to exist within Jesus' everywhere presence, and would be nothing more than created entities like us. (food for the thought) As it says in Acts 17:27-28: "God (Jesus) did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and have our being." (more food for thought)

Said otherwise, the spirit essence of Jesus ENCOMPASES EVERYTHING THAT IS NOT HIMSELF, making any other so-called gods of no consequence. Then to still say that they are God is nonsense.

And too: Jesus says that he has all power (Matthew 28:18). "And when they saw him, they worshipped him (as God) (como Dios): but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, 'All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.'" This has to be so because Jesus cannot lie. So again, if Jesus has all power, what power is left for the other two separate beings called God to have? None!

So in closing, if John, Paul, Peter and Jesus himself says that Jesus is God, then he is God! Then all we have to do is believe in him as such. Then he will wash away our sins by his blood, and take us to heaven where we will live with him forever. So be of good cheer in this dangerous and uncertain world for he loves us very much. As Jesus said in Matthew 28:20: "...And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the world."

Take care and stay safe,

I haven't seen of many Christians (spiritual) who don't understand that John is equating Yesuha or Jesus with God. Now the Jehovah Witnesses may say that. However, if they are Born of the Spirit, then they should know.
