anybody interested in a group project to create a destee web app for
Iphone / Ipod touch ?

No experience necessary.. I've never done it either.. but if it can be done,
we can do it.. we can learn together.

you have any ideas about what you want the app to do?.. any ideas for
features?

I was thinking of a simple web application interface that uses the RSS feeds as input. I haven't actually gotten to reading the documentation
on Safari..


I was thinking, as far as process goes.. to install safari and to create a
full size version of the app first..

I INQUIRED ABOUT AN APP FOR THE IPHONE LAST YEAR IN JUNE.....

WHAT I LEARNED FROM APPLE IS THAT IT WOULD TAKE NEGOTIATION AND A CONSIDERABLE FEE BEFORE SUCH A TASK IS ACHIEVED....

HOWEVER....THEY COULD HAVE LIED......BECAUSE ONCE I MENTIONED WHAT KIND OF WEBSITE THIS WAS , THE CONVERSATION TURNED UPHILL AND MONEYGREEN FROM THEN ON......

THO I WAS TALKING TO A LOW-LEVEL REP.....I DON'T DOUBT THE PART ABOUT A FEE....

I HAVE HAD MY IPHONE FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS NOW....AND I HAVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY FOR A UNIVERSAL CHAT TOOL THAT WOULD ALLOW ME ACCESS TO THE CHATROOM FROM MY IPHONE.......

RIGHT NOW.....CHAT ACCESS IS LIMITED TO ONLY A FEW SITES...

BUT , IF YOU HAVE THE CONNECTIONS TO GET THIS DONE....I'M WILLING TO HELP ANY WAY I CAN......I POSSESS SEVERAL TOOLS TO HELP WITH DESIGN.....IF IT IS POSSIBLE...

the iphone / Ipod has the safari web browser which gives you access
to the web.. and it's from that angle that it's possible to create your own
applications free of any charge.. it becomes a matter of client side programming
of your browser.. via whatever client-side tools Safari has.
Being as we don't have access to the server-side.. it's a matter of
creatively using what we have access to.. I do have a server on the
internet and a couple different versions of the vbulletin software so, I do
plan to play around with the server-side as well.. looking around the net,
their are easier ways of doing this.. I could just pay a couple of hundred
bucks and use Appmaker and have an RSS-based Iphone app up an
running and ready for the Apple application store in a day. but this is
really about the process and about learning.. it's about delving into the
technical details of design and implementation on the Ipod / Iphone
platform.. it gives just technical folks another tool to place in our
toolboxes..​
