Black Poetry : I've

[caramelpython]

I've been around the block a few times
I've even dropped a few rhymes
Scooped a few dimes
Broken some rules and paid a few fines
I'm a teacher so u can bet I've molded a few minds
I've marched with a million men
Committed what seems like a million sins
Started about a million trends
But you'll never catch me on Facebook with about a million friends

I've seen the best in the game fall from grace
So I've also seen the best being replaced
Then just to have some of the worst in the game take their space
Just to fall down faster because they can't keep up the pace
I've seen the bad side of the good and the good side of the bad
I've spit a few line's at the source sound lab

I've witnessed the birth of my kids
And the passing of my child
Such an event almost led to an insanity that drove me wild
I've verbally battled with god like a mc at the cypher
But I was only leading my soul towards hell like some demonic pied piper
Or some form of the DC sniper
I've fallen from grace and rose back to glory
But within it all I've regained my humility while writing this story

I've emptied my mind for now.

While you may have been through so many things
No matter how good bad or ugly they may seem
Its very apparent you still rein
Not allowing those things to restrain you
Something many people
In a similar situation
Are unable or could not even begin to do
sometimes your mind, life, and circumstances
Can take control of you
But not you….
Strength and Courage
Exudes from you
But that does not surprise me
You’re a black man
If no one has ever told you
And although I may not know you
I am proud of you
Keep doing what you do

This was marvelously expressed!

The O'Jays and "A Song For You" came to mind as I read it.

This was a testimony of disappointments and triumphs, of grief and joy, of chaos and peace.

Very well done and extremely moving.
