Black Spirituality Religion : Is There Any Thing Sacred Left ?

Yes Sister Amnat ... many feel justified in talking ugly about their Mommas ... and may even be justified in doing so.

I don't know anything about that kind of living, and find it very difficult to imagine growing up under.

My parents made decisions that i did not like, did things i did not like, but i will never talk ugly about them.

For those that feel they must ... my heart aches for them.

It's good that we can understand one another and reach beyond our experiences. Sometimes when people have different experiences they see things differently. This becomes a problem when each person thinks his or her experience is universal.

For years, for decades, I bristled whenever someone talked about how loving their mother was and they can't understand how anyone could say something bad about their mother. I bristled not because they had a loving mother but because they could not understand my experience and in their attitudes had denied me the permission to even express the pain and anger I felt.

I remember a time when we would never speak ugly about those that are dead.

I remember a time when we would never speak ugly about our own Mother, Father, GrandMother, etc.

But those days are obviously gone, for you can see this all over the Internet now.

It blows my mind, to hear folk talking about their own Mother, while simultaneously talking Black Unity.

When a person will talk ugly about their own Momma, Daddy, GrandParents, and those before them ... to total strangers ... nothing can be sacred.

It appears that everything sacred has been stripped from us, and we are now acting like some other kind of people.

Nothing is sacred. Every thing is fair game for our assaults, our crab in the barrel mentality, against each other.

Nothing is sacred ... it's as if we are doomed ...

In my opinion, anything that is sacred doesn't need anyone to validate that it's sacred. It is those outside of the sacred person/thing that loses in the end. The sacred person/thing will never lose it's value or importance, IT will never change. NO ONE can make what is sacred not sacred, it truly is what it is.

So all the Mommas, Daddys, Grandmas and Grandpas who aren't seen as sacred by their own...I see them as sacred and honor them in the gap. So whenever I cross their path, whether it's helping with grocery bags, opening the door or giving a tight hug, they know they are appreciated.

I don't think we're doomed, there is hope as long as we are breathing. For every 100 people who don't see the sacred person/thing a few hundred more DO see it and honor it as such. Eventually, those who don't recognize will cross paths with those who do and I'm optimistic a shift will slowly occur.

Hey My Sweetie ... I LOVE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ...

We have to prune out the sexuality ... so we're kinda starting over ... bringing the threads back as we determine they are not sexual.
