Black People : How come we don't protest against dirty cops?

A couple of weeks ago my brother and sister were telling me about another "stand your ground" case. I didn't want to hear about it because stuff like that upsets me. However I do eventually get around to reading or thinking about it.

My question is, why aren't there any protests? How come no one is making a big deal about it? I know that if my child (if I ever have one) or any other family member is beaten or killed by the police, I'd be going crazy. I'd make an extremely big deal about it.

How come when stuff like this happens (whether it was unfair arrest, beating or worse) you don't see a big crowd of people protesting it? I know I'm repeating myself but it's unbelievable. Perhaps it's fear? I wouldn't be afraid to say something about it. Why even function in your daily life if you're only going to be steamrolled anyway? Might as well just huddle in a corner and die if you're going to let people push you around like that.

Actaully I think that we do on various levels. One of my associates named DeLacy Davis was a Sargent up here who had an organization called; Black Cops Against Police Brutality was front and center on this. Not only did they get him out of the force but they burnt down two of his homes. I don't know what he's doing now...but like all things, you need support somewhere and the fear factor is too great among the people to really get it as it should be.

I haven't heard of any other 'stand your ground' case.
Seems to me that the someone needs to go back to the drawing board.
'Stand your ground' encourages 'vigilantism' <-- is that a word? *laugh*

I can understand defending with max force while in your home. I can understand defending yourself with a concealed weapon when you/loved one/stranger are in clear and present danger.
...but running after someone who isn't in the midst of breaking a law and with no weapons?

Doesn't seem right. Common sense should've told that guy in Fl to call the police, if he felt the neighborhood was so threatened. Let them handle it. That guy didn't have the wherewithal to assess the situation properly. He assumed intent.

But...wasn't 'stand your ground' the answer to the notion of 'retreating'. I know when I moved to Fl and attended a 'Welcome to Florida' meeting, the cops mentioned all of these weird stipulations concerning 'home defense', i.e., you can't fire upon an assailant if they appeared to be surrendering.... You can't shoot an obvious threat in the back.... You have to 'retreat' before firing...?
This was 2001 but it's still a bunch of 'weirdness'.
...that a homeowner should have to 'retreat' in defense of themselves/family.

One would do better with a writ of Quo Warranto than protesting, IMHO ....

That would send a notice to the courts and other officers as well ....
