I agree brutha. This time the cons win, you had a person that was gone but that that far gone that he couldn't listen to reason. This incident only fuels the fire for the various arguments on the matter, and how to best deal with them. Because if this was a person bent on killing, it would have been one more point for those that say school personnel should be armed.

Peace!
Enki

You are touching on what makes this a phenomenon, bro. Enki.

He was bent on killing, he came prepared to kill folk, he was not on his medicines; he fired some shots at the police.

It was the Sister that reversed his actions, she broke this person all the way down, in real time, on the phone, and control all parties. She arranged for him to not be shot by the Police ... Man!

Had it not been for Antionette, we'd be seeing and reading about dead bodies, kids no less.

In the Spirit of Sankofa,

Antoinette Tuff hailed as hero in Georgia school shooting

DECATUR, GA. — A 911 tape released Wednesday reveals the courageous efforts of a bookkeeper who talked a gunman into putting down his weapon after he walked into her elementary school with an automatic rifle and almost 500 rounds of ammunition.

Later, she talked him into surrendering.
"He's laying on the floor. He's got everything out of his pockets. There isn't anything. The only thing he has is his belt. Everything is out of his pockets. Everything is sitting here on the counter, so all we need to do is they can just come in, and I'll buzz them in."
When the situation had ended, Tuff finally broke down.
"I'm going to tell you something baby — I've never been so scared in all the days in my life," she told the dispatcher.

In the Spirit of Update,

Brother: Ga. school shooter changed as a teen

On the program, she had a tearful on-air reunion with McCray, the dispatcher who stayed on the phone with her as she reassured Hill that surrendering peacefully was the right thing to do. Tuff also received a call in the network's makeup room from President Barack Obama. She said Obama wanted her to know how proud he was of her.
"You can't get any better when you have a great leader in front of you," a beaming Tuff is shown telling the president.

Time and again, Tuff stressed that her faith got her through the episode.
"That was nobody but God's grace and mercy, because I can truly tell you I was terrified inside," she said.
She said she was praying the entire time she talked with Hill, asking God what she should say.
McCray said she was frightened, too, particularly when Tuff began telling her Hill was getting agitated.
"I had to put my phone on mute (and say), 'Hey, he's getting agitated. We have got to move.'"

At some point this excuse is going to ware itself out. Because why do they always pick a school? Schools seem to be the target for anybody that has a problem.

Peace!
Some folks are also motivated by an agenda:

A few are cowards and do need their scapegoats...

I. e., let Obama admit that there is indeed a threat of domestic terrorism, which doesn't originate among those other folks, way over in the middleeast...

Some so fear and loathe a change to their beloved status quo...

They dare to justify it in the distorted take on Christian dogma too...

Let's do keep it real...

What I want to know is why did this white pig choose a school full of BLACK children to murder?
Why did white racists blow up black churches way back when too?

No tie between that white nutcase over in Norway and the same crap taking place here?!?

Lots of pro Nazi folk in the states, back when Hitler came to power...

"And the beat goes on..."

Obama's people went after a bunch of them, in this state, very recently...

Do find out all of the facts...

You cannot teach things like that in an intellectual manner to merely logical minds. The hostage negotiators would have to had the empathy, sympathy and compassion in their spirit, and to have those words carry the energy to the person. Your everyday cop revved up with ogun-like martian energy is not going to be able to switch to yemeya mode to project compassion on the fly.

How Antoinette Tuff was trained to be a hero

Days after thwarting what could have been another Sandy Hook tragedy, Antoinette Tuff has become a household name.
The school staffer who works in the front office at the Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy just of outside Atlanta, Ga., became a hero when she calmly and compassionately persuaded 20-year-old gunman Michael Brandon Hill to lay down his AK-47 style assault rifle. 911 tapes reveal that Tuff opened up to Hill about her life story, offered reassurance, and even told him at one point that she loved him.
Her instincts were spot on, and incredibly brave. But can they–and should they–be taught to every faculty member as part of an effort to improve school safety?
A number of professionals say yes.
“She did all the things we try to teach negotiators,” said Clint van Zandt, former FBI profiler and hostage negotiator, on NewsNation Thursday. “She was a great ‘go-between,’ she identified with the aggressor, she offered help, she minimized what he had done, she helped develop a surrender ritual, she told him what to expect, and told the police what to expect, she offered love, said she was proud of him, she offered him a positive future–every one of those things is something we spend weeks teaching negotiators, and this lady did it intuitively.”

Antoinette Tuff hailed as 'true hero' for handling Georgia school gunman

Tuff, others 'thought it was a drill'

Tuff had training in how to deal with such a scenario.
School staff regularly train for dangerous situations involving trespassers and emergency protocol, school district spokesman Quinn Hudson said.
Tuff and two other staff members -- a cafeteria manager and a media specialist -- were specifically trained in hostile situations.
tos: Shots fired at Georgia school
"The training is so often and extensive, they thought it was a drill" at first, said Hudson.
While Tuff worked to keep the gunman calm and spoke with him, she signaled a code to her two counterparts, who immediately triggered a phone tree to tell teachers to lock doors and send children to safety, Hudson said.
"Her name, Antoinette Tuff, says everything about her," said Brian Bolden, the school principal. "Tough. She has always been that way, from the first time I met her."
He describes her as a strong leader whose authority everyone respects.
