THE TRUE BIBLICAL HEBREW SABBATH IS ONCE A MONTH NOT WEEKLY

The Hebrew 7th day is thought to be every week by mainstream Christians but is it really every week or is it a misunderstanding of scriptures and a misunderstanding of early Hebrew culture?

I will prove this statement with historical accounts and Hebrew history that the weekly Sabbath is a misunderstanding of early Hebrew culture.

First I will quickly show the Calendar system of the early Hebrews. The Hebrew calendar was based on a Lunar calendar system used predominantly for religious observances. It determines the dates for Jewish holidays and the appropriate public reading of sacred text, and daily Psalm readings, among many ceremonial uses. In Israel, it was used for religious purposes, provides a time frame for agriculture and is an official calendar for civil purposes, although the latter usage has been steadily declining in favor of the Gregorian calendar or Solar calendar.

In the early Hebrew calendar, months are based on lunar months not the Solar calendar which modern day mankind uses and Rome used, there is a difference.

The beginning of each Hebrew lunar month is based on the appearance of the new moon.

What is the New Moon?

The new moon is the first phase of the Moon, when it lies closest to the Sun in the sky as seen from the Earth. The Moon is not normally visible at this time. Every New Moon marked the beginning of a new month in the Hebrew culture.

Here are the scriptural examples of the Hebrew lunar calendar.

1. Genesis Chapter 1-14
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years.

2. Psalms Chapter 104-19
He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down

3. Apocrypha ECCLESIASTICUS Chapter 43 -6-8
He made the moon also to serve in her season for a declaration of times, and a sign of the world.
From the moon is the sign of feasts, a light that decreaseth in her perfection.
The month is called after her name, increasing wonderfully in her changing, being an instrument of the armies above, shining in the firmament of heaven.

Now the question remains did the Hebrews practice a Sabbath on
every Friday the answer NO! HELL NO! lets prove it.

First lets understand the Extinct Culture of the ancient Hebrews starting with their month to month practice of the New moons and Sabbaths.

Lets first find out how they observed the beginning of Every month.

The new moon signifies the start of every Hebrew month, and is considered an important date and Sabbath holiday in the Hebrew calendar.

The following verses Gives you clear description of keeping the New Moon at the beginning of every month as a Sabbath:

1. Numbers Chapter 28-11
And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot

2. Numbers Chapter 10-10
Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

This scripture in Amos proves the Hebrews kept a New Moon sabbath every month.

3. Amos 8-5 "Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the Sabbath, that we may set forth wheat,"

According to the historical records the Hebrews celebrated the New Moon Sabbath on the first day of Every month. Then 7 days later they celebrated the HOLY SABBATH in which the daily sacrifice stops no sacrifice of animals on this day.

The prophet Ezekiel gave us the best understanding on the Hebrew culture new moons and how and when the sabbaths were observed giving us CLEAR understanding and connecting with the words of Moses in Exodus Chapter 20- 8-10

Ezekiel Chapter 46-1
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

lets review Ezekiel said that every new moon(1st day of the Month) the Gates of the inner court of the Temple WILL BE OPEN and 6 days from the New Moon it will be closed then opened on the 8th day of every month which is the HOLY SABBATH

Example:
1 day of Every month is a New Moon Sabbath. Now count 7 days from the New Moon
thats 8, the 8th day of every month was a Holy Sabbath not once a Week but once every 8th day of the month

Now compare this info too exodus account

Exodus Chapter 20- 8-10
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Grammar note: notice the scripture keeps using the word Sabbath day in the singular not plural
That means one, one day out of 30 is a Holy Sabbath.

Six days you will work that means the Temple would be closed as well for 6 straight working days

Understand!

Interest thoughts.

New Moon "Sabbaths" allow for fire to be used
7th day, or 8th day Sabbaths, forbade the use of fire

Exo 16:26
Six days ye shall gather it; but on the seventh day, which is the sabbath, in it there shall be none.

Exo 16:35
And the children of Israel did eat manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited; they did eat manna, until they came unto the borders of the land of Canaan.

Is one concluding that this manna that was gathered for 6 days, lasted for 40 years?
Or that they only rested for 1 day each month for traditional Sabbath, while working double-duty on the 6th, or 7th day, and rested an additional 1 day each month for New Moon observance?

Allow this for insertion into these thoughts though:

Lev 23:2
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.

Lev 23:3
Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Lev 23:4
These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.

Lev 23:5 *
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.

Lev 23:6 **
And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

Lev 23:7 ***
In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Lev 23:8 ****
But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Translates to this:

April 14th (Passover) * / April 3rd equivalent conversion for those that are strict moon cyclists.
April 15th (7 day feast of unleavened bread) ** / April 4th equivalent
April 15th (Sabbath; 1st day of 7 day feast) *** / April 4th equivalent
April 22nd (Sabbath, 7th day of fast and burnt offerings) **** / April 11th equivalent

Lev 23:16
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

7 x 7 = 49 + 1 (even unto the morrow) = 50

Why would this seventh sabbath number 50 days and not 210 days (roughly, 7 x 30), if it were not recognize every seven days?

Lev 23:24
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation.

October 1st (Sabbath)

Lev 23:27
Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

Lev 23:28
And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.

Lev 23:32
It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

October 10th (Sabbath)

Lev 23:34
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the feast of tabernacles for seven days unto the LORD.

Lev 23:35
On the first day shall be an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

October 15th (7 feast of tabernacles)
October 15th (Sabbath; 1st day of 7 day feast)

Lev 23:36
Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; and ye shall do no servile work therein.

October 23 (Sabbath; 8th day after 7 day feast began)

Translates to this:

October 1st (Sabbath) / or September 14th equivalent conversion
October 10th (Sabbath) / or September 23rd equivalent
October 15th (Sabbath; 1st day of 7 day feast) / or September 28th equivalent
October 23 (Sabbath) / or October 6th

Observe the four Sabbaths are essentially an average of 7 days apart

But notice, the writings do not mention "every month", but a few selective months... so this could be subjective, yet this portion of writing alludes to the pattern:

Lev 23:16
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Seems there were 7 Sabbaths in consecutive order to equate to 50

Good thoughts to consider though
Shalam my friend good lets talk about this subject get more people this needs to be discussed seriously.

I will explain lev 23 but first I have too ask if you know the difference between a Ceremonial Sabbath and a HOLY Sabbath? THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND NO ONE SPEAKS ABOUT THIS DIFFERENCE

1) Ceremonial Sabbaths: Are "REST" days in which we do not work nor buy or sell BUT we still can sacrifice animals. Those Ceremonial Sabbath feasts are called New Moon Sabbaths which occur EVERY 1st of the Month, PASSOVER, FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS, FEAST OF PENTECOST (WEEKS), FEAST OF TRUMPETS, DAY OF ATONEMENT, FEAST OF TABERNACLES.

Numbers Chapter 28-9-11
9 And on the sabbath day two lambs of the first year without spot, and two tenth deals of flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and the drink offering thereof:
10 This is the burnt offering of every sabbath, beside the continual burnt offering, and his drink offering.
11 And in the beginnings of your months ye shall offer a burnt offering unto the LORD; two young bullocks, and one ram, seven lambs of the first year without spot;

2) HOLY Sabbath in which we do not WORK nor BUY and SELL nor sacrifice of animals or seething meat (Exodus 16-23) if you read that scripture it refers to a HOLY Sabbath that type of Sabbath is only once a month 7 days from the New Moon festival Sabbath which occurs every 1st Month.

Holy Sabbath: No Sacrifice of Animals

Exodus 35-3
3 Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.

Exodus 16-23
23 And he said unto them, This is that which the LORD hath said, To morrow is the rest of the holy sabbath unto the LORD: bake that which ye will bake to day, and seethe that ye will seethe; and that which remaineth over lay up for you to be kept until the morning.

Now lets go to Leviticus I will show you how it all fits together

Leviticus 23 is written to give us understanding of the
feasts of the Lord it takes place in the month of March here is the calendar with all the feasts including the HOLY Sabbath:

March 1 New Moon Sabbath celebration = No Working, no Buying, no selling. Animal Sacrifice Allowed

2. Second day of the Month which would be day one work begins.

3. Third day of the Month which would be day two Hebrews working buying and selling.

4. Fourth day of the Month which would be day three Hebrews working buying and selling.

5. Fifth day of the Month which would be day Four Hebrews working buying and selling.

6. Sixth day of the Month which would be day Five Hebrews working buying and selling.

7. Seventh day of the Month which would be day six Hebrews working buying and selling.

8. Eight Day of the Month HOLY SABBATH NO WORK NO SELLING NO SACRIFICING OF ANIMALS or Seething of Meat.

March 9-13 Hebrews working buying selling daily chores

March 14 Passover -Ceremonial Sabbath or REST
March 15 FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD 7 day festival Sabbath No buying or Selling daily Sacrifice of Animals still takes place.

March 22 starts the FIRST FRUITS Work Begins on this day

March 23 starts the 50 day Pentecost

Scriptures that show the feast of unleavened bread is a Festival Sabbath:

Now I will address Lev 23 verse 15 and 16 the common errors in understanding old english text

15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Explanation

now the morrow after the sabbath What Sabbath? not a weekly Sabbath but the last Sabbath of the Feast of Unleaved Bread which is a Ceremonial Sabbath not a Holy Sabbath!

After the last Sabbath of the Feast of Unleaved Bread starts the first fruits or "the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering"

So by the time you get to the First fruit you SHOULD HAVE ALREADY completed 7 consecutive Ceremonial Sabbaths

Grammar note: Complete is Past Tense in verse 15 meaning you should have completed 7 consecutive unleaved bread Ceremonial Sabbaths

Also Read the Great Josephus proves the Sabbath was Once A Month

Josephus:

CHAPTER 10. Concerning The Festivals; And How Each Day Of Such Festival Is To Be Observed.

1. The law requires, that out of the public expenses a lamb of the first year be killed every day, at the beginning and at the ending of the day; but on the seventh day, which is called the Sabbath, they kill two, and sacrifice them in the same manner. At the new moon, they both perform the daily sacrifices, and slay two bulls, with seven lambs of the first year, and a kid of the goats also, for the expiation of sins; that is, if they have sinned through ignorance.

see one Day out of the month the priest kill TWO he did not say this happens every 7 days

There are differentiating customs of Sabbath, as laid out in the previous post where the Sabbaths were observed in different manners, while keeping the core of the reverence in place.

There are no writings (at least not aware of) to claim something to be done every seven days (other than when Paul added the ritual of tithing), but as pointed out, on the 7th Sabbath a total of 49 days had past, even unto the morrow (+1) making 50(Pentecost).

Lev 23:16
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Regardless of how it was to be celebrated, recognize, or reverenced, these were "Sabbaths" according to the writings.

October 1st (Sabbath) / or September 14th equivalent conversion
October 10th (Sabbath) / or September 23rd equivalent
October 15th (Sabbath; 1st day of 7 day feast) / or September 28th equivalent
October 23 (Sabbath) / or October 6th

Is one suggesting that "Sabbaths" occur only in March/April (first month) and September/October (seventh month)?

Are these were the only months mention for the Sabbaths

Show where it is written that the "seventh day Sabbath" is to occur each month, other than the 1st and 7th months.

As for Josephus:

The Law Ordaining the Festival - Ant 3.10.6 252-257

When a week of weeks has passed since this sacrifice -- these weeks comprising forty-nine days -- on the fiftieth day, which is called by the Hebrews Azartha, meaning "fiftieth" [pentecostin], they bring to God a loaf made of two assarons of wheat flour, with leaven For sacrifices they bring two lambs; when these have been presented to God they are made ready for supper for the priests, and it is not permitted to leave anything of them till the day following. For whole burnt-offerings they sacrifice three young bulls, two rams, fourteen lambs, with two kids of the goats as sin-offerings.

Num 28:16
And in the fourteenth day of the first month is the passover of the LORD.

Num 28:17
And in the fifteenth day of this month is the feast: seven days shall unleavened bread be eaten.

Num 29:1
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you.

Lev 23:5
In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD'S passover.

Lev 23:6
And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

Pentecost is only referenced in the 1st month when reading, as it is the 50th day from when the observance of the ceremonies began from the 14th day (Passover) of the 1st month.

Count from April 3 (Passover) to May 24 (Pentecost) for this season of 2015

Lev 23:16
Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

So the parallel mention of the 1st and 7th months which speak of the ceremonies...

Are these were the only months written of for the Sabbaths/Ceremonies, and if so, how does one conclude that instead of "weekly", it should be "monthly"... when there are no other months mentioned other than "Nissan" and "Tishri"?

What happens during the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th months?
My friend your understanding is OFF It seems that you did not understand my last 2 posts.

See you are posting irrelevant info, I just proved that the Holy Sabbath and New moon Sabbaths are once a month I am not talking about PASSOVER, FEAST OF UNLEAVENED BREAD, FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS, FEAST OF PENTECOST (WEEKS), FEAST OF TRUMPETS, DAY OF ATONEMENT, FEAST OF TABERNACLES. those ARE NOT done every 7 days they are not even really celebrated.

I am addressing the Fact that the Hebrews DID NOT HAVE A HOLY Sabbath EVERY FRI or SUNDAY thats what I am addressing that is PAGAN!

Now if you want to discuss if the 2,3,4,5,6 days of UNLEAVENED BREAD are Ceremonial Sabbaths then lets discuss that BUT as for what Moses said in Exodus about the HOLY Sabbath 6 days you shall work I proved its 7 days from the New Moon Sabbath PERIOD EVERY month REGARDLESS

So lets discuss Unleavened bread 7 consecutive ceremonial Sabbaths

This is your comment "There are no writings (at least not aware of) to claim something to be done every seven days"

Thats incorrect Lev 23 tells you what happen lets go over it again

Lev 23 -15
15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

Question

1. What Sabbath is he speaking of in this verse?

Answer: its the LAST DAY of the Feast Of Unleavened Bread which is a Sabbath

Lev 23 -7-8
7 In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.
8 But ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Thats the Last Sabbath or the 7th Sabbath do you understand this?

So according to verse 15 by the time you get to the day AFTER the 7th Sabbath which would be the 22 day of March called First Fruits you should have ALREADY completed 7 Sabbaths of the Feast of Unleavened Bread

Verse 16 says the same thing

Lev 23 -16
Even unto the morrow after the seventh Sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD.

Once again it says the day after the 7th Sabbath of the Feast of Unleavened Bread you shall start to number 50 days After the 7th Unleavened Bread Ceremony that means:

March 22 Starts first Fruits then you start your count 50 days after
so the last day new meat offering would begin on May 11, 2015

understand! this has NOTHING to do with a WEEKLY Sabbath or a Holy Sabbath

Still not understanding? I will let Luke tell you that the 2,3,4,5,6, days of the Unleavened are considered Sabbath No Work No Selling o those Days period

Luke 22-7
7 Then came the day of unleavened bread, when the Passover must be killed.
8 And he sent Peter and John, saying, Go and prepare us the Passover that we may eat.

Note: Passover meaning the Meal not the 14th Day Passover

Christ was taken and beaten by the Pharisees on the night of the 1st day of the Unleavened Bread Mach 15

The Next Day March 16th Christ was given to Pilate

Mark 15 - 1
1 And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate.

Christ was Crucified on the 3rd hour on March 16 2 day of the feast of unleavened bread.

Now was this Day considered a Sabbath

Answer: YES

This scripture proves Christ died on the 2 day of the Feast of unleavened Bread which is considered a ceremonial Sabbath.

John 19 - 31
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.

John 19:13-14

13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the Passover and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!

note: Passover meals were eaten along with Unleavened Bread during this 7 consecutive day Sabbath Ceremony

John 19 - 42
42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

Luke 23- 50,52,53,54
50 And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:
52 This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53 And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54 And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
56.And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.

Proven! There ARE 7 consecutive Sabbaths that must be done by the time we get to the day of the First Fruits

Do you Now Understand!

SHALAM!

Six days you will work that means the Temple would be closed as well for 6 straight working days

If you read Exodus 16:13-30 it speaks of Israel gathering manna for Sabbath. There is no cooking or working done, so on the sixth day they received twice as much, enough for two days. Manna was rained down for 6 days, but not the seventh. It says they gathered it everyday, but on the sixth day they gathered twice as much. in Luke 13:14 the Pharisee said that there are six days for man to be healed, but not on the Sabbath. He was wrong, but this shows that even to them there was a literal interpretation of six days.

See my friend you do not understand the Hebrew culture and your misunderstanding the culture. This subject was never talked about or taught mainstream Christians follow a Weekly sabbath every Fri or Sunday.

There is no scripture thats said to do a Sabbath Every 7 days no one has ever proved it. So lets start over again this is how they did it.

Lets talk to Ezekiel he will show you how the Hebrews did their sabbaths

Ezekiel Chapter 46-1
Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

Crammer note: notice it keeps using the word Sabbath day in the singular not plural

That means one one day out of 30 is a Holy Sabbath.

Six days you will work that means the Temple would be closed as well for 6 straight working days

So lets review with the info we just went over and APPLY the knowledge we haved learned to answer Exodus 16 - 13-30

See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.
30 So the people rested on the seventh day.------Exodus 16:29-30

So on the first of every month the Hebrews had a New Moon Sabbath then for 6 straight days they picked manna then on the 6th day which would be the 7th day of the month the picked double the amount becasue the next day was the HOLY Sabbath.

Then the next days after the Holy Sabbath 9-30 they still picked manna EVERY day but there were NO MORE SABBATHS until the 1st of Next month which was a NEW Moon Sabbath then 6 days later they picked double because the next day was the HOLY SABBATH

Understand!
