I remember a time when DELL was considered the "Rolls Royce Of Computers". When I got my first computer back in '96 (which, BTW, wasn't a DELL) I didn't know anything about them. Then, a couple of months after I got my first PC, I heard about this company called DELL that suppose to be the best. The reason I found out about them late is because they never did any TV-advertisements back then (or, at least, I never seen any). Their ads would primarily be in computer-magazines and such. When I learned of that it was impressive to me. What I found even more impressive was their reputation on how well they backed-up their products. DELL had the rep back in the day that if a customer (who is still under warranty) ever needed a repair, all they would have to do is call DELL-support and by the time they're about to hang the phone up the repair-technician would be knocking on the door. Yep, they had it going on like that.
So, many years later ('04 to be exact), I was finally able to afford a high-power XPS that I still have to this day (in fact, it's what I'm using now). And, back then, it and DELL more than measure up to all the hype. However, in the last few years, since the company got its India thing going, my experience with DELL has been atrocious. Believe me, I can run-down a list. So it didn't really surprise me these testimonial-complaints about their service...

I even ran across this…

that’s right, an actual forum dedicated to the putting-down of DELL… d*mn.
How it looks to me is that it was Americans who made DELL what it is the Michael Dell turned around and gave everybody his *** to kiss. They have fell-off big time.
Anyway, I'm one of those who are cutting-off DELL also. Over the 16 years since I bought my first PC I developed enough savvy to build my own and that's what I'm gonna do this summer.
