Lamon Reccord is a 16-year-old who is ready for change. The young activist realizes that in order to make things better, you can’t be passive. It requires standing up, being vocal and being vigilant. Often it all starts with dealing with elected officials and their relationships with the people they serve. The Chicago native wants more for his hometown so he recently spoke up about the injustices in the city.

He spoke about how the city of Chicago has failed children with 40% of the budget going to the police department and not to public schools where it is desperately needed. He contends that the Mayor, Rahm Emanuel, should be indicted over the cover-up that occurred with the shooting death of Laquan McDonald. The fact that it took 400 days for the video of the shooting to come out and for charges to be filed, was a disgrace ...
