It is possible to be a naturally big boned black woman and still be healthy, according to cardiovascular standards. Not all slim women have healthy heartbeats. From my experience in aerobics classes.

you get the 2016 Gold Star. and thank you for your contribution.

but with certain black men, it really doesn't matter what the facts say. whether our Black Women are svelte or big-boned, them haters of Black Women gone find something to kick her down for. in this case, being big-boned was the excuse to hate on her; but it was disguised as a health issue: "well see, I love me some Black Women but her being big-boned causes me to have concern for her because she is unhealthy." that's one odd excuse.

but then if a Black Woman is not big-boned, they will needle their hate against her in this way: "well, she wears short skirts", or "she wears a perm", or "she wears a weave", or "she ain't conscious", or "she's too loud"...and so the point is easily made for the reality--the most unfortunate reality-- which is certain black men just simply don't like Black Women and they will do everything they can to show it no matter the subtle ways. and showing it is not always with backward-thinking comments. but it's also really seen through the silence of the really coward black man who sits back and watch his Black Woman---his black wife, his black daughter, his black Motha, his black sistah, his black neighbor, his black niece get slaughtered both literally and metaphorically. and then turns around and say something to the effect: "we need to get together as a people."

freakin mortals.

thanks again for your views.

From the outset, it should be considered that there are scenarios where weight--whether over or under-- can be problematic as it relates to one's health. To that, we are, of course, not stating debilitating health is attractive or a thing to be desired.

That said, adoration has always been attached to the big-boned Black Woman's physique.

We know that in Africa, there are many cultures which regard big-boned women with great honor and status and respect. If you can get past some of the racist entries, in the book Tales of Travels in Central Africa by Williams Joseph Snelling and Griswold Goodrich, they write:

"It seems that in this country, a woman who is [opulent] is of course, thought very beautiful." (page 95, Gray & Bowen, Boston 1831).

Notice how the writers say "of course" which means that in that land, in that country, it goes without saying that Black Women who are big-boned are considered beautiful women. And that's fairly recent dating back only in the 1800s. In a moment, we'll go back even further. But for now. what happened to how we, as a people, think about our beautiful big-boned Black Women?
