I always knew the day would come, That my little boy would become a man.
And I would have to let go of your hand.
I even remember times when I wished it would come fast.
And as the time drew near and near, Those feelings began to pass.
I wanted time to slow down and even stand still.
So I would not have to face all the emotions and fears.
Of having to let you be a man. Because it is so crazy out here.

You took all your punishments and all the mama beatings,
I always told you when you grew up that one day you would understand.
You have not only been my son you have been my best friend.
I know you may think your child hood was hard,
Having to follow my rules, listening to me cuss and fuss.
“Clean up that room”, “Take out that trash” “Wash those dishes”
“Hey, pull up those pants ” “Do you have homework”
“Did you skip that teacher’s class”.

But, you and I did it each and every day.
As I look back on it now, it doesn’t seem that far away.
We’ve had our moments where we both thought, we wouldn’t make it another day.
But we stuck it out and with God’s help, now we have reach today.

You listen to me lecture you about the same things over and over again.
But the time has come and little Stephen is now my Young Man.
I’m proud of you and I love you too, more than words can say.
You have always been the driving force in my life,
My reason to wake up each day. From the day you were born,
I promised myself that I would always make sure you were ok.
I may not have given you everything you wanted,
But you always had what you needed. (I think I did my best)

Now you have graduated and moving on to another season in your life.
I hope one day you can look back and see, that I had my reasons.
For always staying on your case.
I just wanted the best for you.

But the time is here and I have to let you find your own way.
But if you get a little lost along the way,
Don’t forget that Mom is never far away.
People will come and go in your life,
But always remember that I love you and that’s something,
That will never change.
And No matter where you go or what you do,
You will always be, “My Little Stephen”

Love Mom

I am looking for participants in a study to share their experiences as former African American males served as ED/EBD/BD in the southeast. Participants ages 18-35 will be interviewed and given the opportunity to express their thoughts, feelings and impressions of their school years. If interested or for more information please contact me directly. Thanks, Cheryl

Thank you for the welcome. I have a question. I am a doctorate student in need of participants for my study. Is it allowable to post a request for study participants. If so, this is the post that would be uploaded:
