Food Discussion : any interest in east african cuisine?

not much for pics, but i did do some experimenting. i had some kale, went to the garden and got two types of turnip greens (the kind that sting your hands) and some collards. love the blue-green color of the collards. now, i'm not a big fan of cook 'em til they scream (literally, in a pressure...

Food Discussion : any interest in east african cuisine?

boiled well water and it was bakers yeast. when i was a kid, my family made 'wine' out of whatever fruit we had lots of, usually apples. killingly sweet. these days i'm diabetic and alcohol really doesn't do me well, but i always wanted to try african style beer.

it seems to me that many people will ask questions and get answers rather than thinking even a tiny bit. that's not me at all. frankly, i don't really like people and i'd much rather figure things out on my own rather than trying to extract info from others. and, frankly, most people are...

Black People : Ravensbrück concentration camp

after the allies liberated the Ravensbrück concentration camp, this prayer was found written on a slip of paper Peace to all those who are full of evil intent and an end to taking revenge and an end to speeches about punishment and scolding. The matchless cruelties defy description, they...

African Traditional Religion : Honoring Ancestors.

because everyone ultimately comes from africa? when i was an ecology grad student, the ecology building had a hacienda type enclosed open area with rafters covered by a beautiful wisteria plant. during lunch you could watch the bees and lizards in the foliage. but wisterias are invasive exotic...

African Traditional Religion : Bantu TR for a role-playing game

i owe you an apology. considering my own religious beliefs, i have no business being critical about anyone else's on the basis of realism, etc. this comes from being trained as a scientist - and in this arena, that can be a liability. so, salama, mzee, peace be unto you.

African Traditional Religion : Bantu TR for a role-playing game

egypt? egypt had almost no effect on west african or bantu cultures. it's about as relevant as madagascar. and in particular, african-americans living in the new world have zero connection with egypt. egypt is just as un-african as buddhism. and why would you even want to study egypt? how about...
