And, I never said they did. Did I? And, how do you know what my insights are based on? Do you get all this information about me from your crystal ball?

Do you have anything to add to this thread? Or, is your presence here solely to analyze me personally? Because there are rules for that, you know.

I never post to you. Not ever. You always post to me. Usually, I just ignore you, like others do.

To help fix the mass incarceration problem, we need to create foundations that help supply competent lawyers to our low to middle income people who are accused of crimes we deem to be petty. If you ask many of our people who are in prison for nonviolent crimes, you will find most of them only had a public defender as their lawyer. Many public defenders have large case loads and/or a low interest in their cases that prevent them from adequately defending their clients. There are plenty of times when the public defender does not even see the accused before the case is trialed. All of this leads to cases being plea bargained and/or convictions.

We can't expect the system to fix itself, because of the private prison sector's lobbying power and the population's desire for hard responses to crime. I feel the best we can do is seek to avoid the system through our actions and via effective lawyering. Over time, we should work to increase our economic clout and then use such clout to lobby politicians for the changes we desire.

There are also internal changes we need to make to help reduce our criminal footprint that would also reduce the incarceration levels: one of which is a change in paradigm concerning education, ethics, and earnings.

    Good post. Thank you.

It makes sense, realizing that the government should do more but won't. If AAs were to directly fund all the programs needed to bring us up to par, that would be a dream come true. From education, political representation, gang violence, police brutality, etc. I guess one day we will have the infrastructure to get it done. I don't see it happening soon.
